Last week, ABC’s World News with Charles Gibson was #1 in total viewers (by 320,000), but NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams was #1 in the 25-54 demographic (with Campbell Brown subbing).
“Season-to-date, World News is the only evening newscast to grow its Total Viewing audience, increasing 1%; NBC is down 6% and CBS is down 3%,” ABC says.
It was the first week of daylight saving time, which traditionally results in lower viewership for the evening newscasts.
For the week of March 12:
Total viewers: NBC: 8,320,000 / ABC: 8,640,000 / CBS: 6,760,000
Households: NBC: 5.8/12 / ABC: 6.0/13 / CBS: 4.8/10
