NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt was the No. 1 evening newscast of the week, both in total viewers and in the key A25-54 demo. The program managed to improve 1 percent in both categories from the same week in 2015. The week included Holt anchoring from Nice on Friday, July 15. Nightly, which won all five evenings across the board, has now ranked No. 1 in the news demo for 50 of the last 51 weeks.
ABC World News Tonight with David Muir finished No. 2 in both total viewers and the news demo. World News was up 1 percent in total viewers, but fell 6.5 percent in the demo from the same week last year. Its margin of victory over CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley in the demo was slim.
Interestingly, the aforementioned CBS Evening News continues to deliver more year-over-year growth in the news demo than in total viewers. The program held steady in total viewers, but was up 10.5 percent in the demo from the same week last year.
