Evening News Ratings: Week of Jan. 25

By Chris Ariens

All three evening newscasts shed viewers last week, which began with coverage of the northeast blizzard and ended with all eyes on Iowa. NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt led the way again in both viewers and the A25-54 demo, but was down -3 percent and -4 percent, respectively, vs. the same week last year.

ABC’s World News Tonight with David Muir was also down -3 percent in viewers and down -10 percent in the demo. CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley was flat in viewers and down -5 percent in the demo.

Nightly News began the week on a high note, with its biggest single-day audience in a month on Monday, and also its biggest single-day demo win over World News Tonight since the Sochi Olympics two years ago. Meanwhile, World News Tonight ended the week with a win, coming in first on Friday edging Nightly News by 12,000 total viewers.
