“NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams” was the no. 1 evening newscast again last week, and showed growth from the same week last year. Diane Sawyer, who made her “World News” debut during this same week last year, was down year-to-year while #3 CBS Evening News with Katie Couric was up year-over-year.
And while all of the Big 3 newscasts were down when Q4 2010 is compared to Q4 2009, “Nightly” continues to widen the gap as the leader. The Williams broadcast had its best Total Viewer advantage over both “World News” and “CBS Evening News” since Q4 2004. And this was “Nightly’s” best A25-54 fourth quarter advantage over “World News” since Q4 2002.
The newscasts are based on four days with Christmas Eve taken out of the average.
