For the week of Dec. 14, the CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley is the only network evening newscast to grow viewers compared to the same week last year. The CBS broadcast was up less than 1 percent in viewers and up +2 percent in the demo.
CBS Evening News continues to trail competitors NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt and World News Tonight with David Muir. Nightly News has been #1 in total viewers for all 26 weeks Holt has been anchor, and for 31 of the last 34 weeks in the demo.
And despite year-over-year viewer loses (down -1 percent in viewers and down -11 percent in the demo) World News Tonight is seeing its largest overall audience in 8 years – since the 2007-08 season.
