Evening News Ratings: Week of April 8

There was a split in the evening news ratings race once again, as ABC World News Tonight with David Muir finished No. 1 among the evening newsers in total viewers, while NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt held up at No. 1 among adults 25-54.

ABC’s evening newscast has now won 28 of the past 29 weeks of the broadcast season to-date in total viewers, while NBC maintains its status as the No.1 evening newscast of the broadcast season to-date among adults 25-54.

Compared to the the same week in 2018. all three evening newscasts lost a significant number of viewers. ABC was -3% in total viewers, NBC was -6% in total viewers, while the CBS Evening News with Jeff Glor was -6%. In the A25-54 demo, ABC was -8%, NBC -7% and CBS -10% vs. the comparable week last year.

NOTE: Due to NCAA Basketball Final on Monday (4/8/19), “CBS Evening News” was retitled as “CBS Evening Nws;” ratings were excluded from the average. “CBS Evening News” averages are based on 4 days (Tues-Fri).
