By A.J. Katz

NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt was the No. 1 evening newscast across the board for the week of April 24. On the downside, ABC, CBS and NBC’s evening newscasts all struggled relative to the final week of April 2016.

NBC won the week in the evenings despite posting year-over-year losses in total viewers (-8 percent) and the A25-54 demo (-10 percent). With the win, Nightly News has now ranked No. 1 in A25-54 for 91 of the last 92 weeks.

ABC World News Tonight with David Muir came in second across the board. WNT was -6 percent in total viewers and -9 percent in the demo versus the same week last year.  Despite the runner up finish, season to date, ABC’s evening newscast ranks No. 1 in overall audience for the first time at this point of the season in 21 years – since the 1995-96 season.
