Tonight’s Powerball jackpot has climbed to $500 million, making it one of the largest lottery prizes in history. Million of Americans in 44 states are lining up for tickets and TV newsers are no exception. The jackpot has been covered on a variety of morning shows, newscasts and social media platforms. While many newsers are hoping to win the payout themselves, others are focusing on the difficulty of picking the correct set of numbers.
NBC News sent Kerry Sanders to purchase tickets in Miami live on the Today show, while GMA’s T.J. Holmes demonstrated the difficulty of winning by tossing a dime onto a football field.
Fox Business’ Cheryl Casone made an appearance on Fox News Channel to discuss the odds of winning, which aren’t particularly strong. Casone reports that the odds are 1 in 292 million, making it more likely that someone gets elected as President of the United States than cashing in.
