TVNewser hears that yesterday MSNBC host Ed Schultz gave a court-ordered deposition related to a civil suit filed against him by NBC staffer Michael Queen.
If you aren’t familiar with the case: Queen filed suit against Shultz in May, claiming that he had the idea to bring the then-radio host to television.
Queen claims to have pitched CBS, Fox News, MSNBC and some syndicators, but nothing came of those meetings. A year later however, MSNBC president Phil Griffin reached out directly to Schultz, and a deal was made. Queen alleges that he and Schultz entered into an agreement that would grant Queen a stake in the show, and that when MSNBC eventually picked up the program, he was iced out.
It isn’t clear what Schultz was asked at the deposition, but if the original filing is any indication, he was likely asked about emails he sent to Queen that allegedly demonstrate that the two had a clear agreement.
