According to CNN senior media correspondent Brian Stelter, Donald Trump personally called into the control room where CNN’s morning show, New Day, was being produced to ensure the show team was aware of an interview that had just aired on Fox News.

“Trump called in to CNN’s New Day control room,” Stelter said on CNN. “He wasn’t going to go on air–we asked if he would go on air … but he wanted to make sure the producers of New Day had seen the interview on Fox, on a rival network, so they could cover the interview.”

The presumptive Republican presidential nominee also used his Twitter account to urge the media to watch the interview Monday morning with a former Trump girlfriend, Rowanne Brewer Lane, who told Fox & Friends she had been misquoted by The New York Times in a story about Trump’s relationships with women. “They spun it to where it appeared negative. I did not have a negative experience with Donald Trump,” she said.
