Domonique Foxworth Subs for Peter King on MMQB

By Cam Martin

Ravens cornerback Domonique Foxworth took time away from his busy schedule sitting around waiting for owners and players to end the lockout to write Peter King’s Monday Morning Quarterback column on SI.com. King is on his annual summer vacation, so notables will be filling in for him over the next few weeks.

For longtime readers of King’s column who’ve come to expect tangents about coffee, the Red Sox or traveling inconveniences, Foxworth’s effort was a departure, as it made no mention of those worthwhile preoccupations. He addressed the players’ stand in the labor standoff, said Baltimore deserved to host a Super Bowl (“If Detroit can handle the country’s biggest game, then so can Charm City”) and devoted his non-sports thoughts to the awesomeness of technology (“At least once a month I look at my smartphone or iPad and say, “Holy $*&@, this is incredible”) and the need for players to remain clothed in their Twitter profile pics. He also said cell phones have ruined the fun of pushing people into pools. Not sure I agree with that. The ubiquity of cell phones raises the chances you’ll push someone in the pool who has one in their pocket; but it also raises the odds that someone nearby will take a cell phone picture of a soaking wet person screaming about the death of their cell phone. It’s really a give and take.
