AP: “A 35-year-old soldier from suburban Houston was killed by a car bomb in Iraq that also killed two CBS crew members and seriously injured a correspondent for the network, the Defense Department has announced.”
Army Capt. James A. Funkhouser, 35, “was near his Humvee during reconnaissance patrol operations when the car bomb detonated… Funkhouser had been assigned as an armor officer with the 1st Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade, 4th Infantry Division at Fort Hood since April 2005. He was deployed to Iraq in December.”
