Do We Need Some John Gibson, Jr.’s?

By Brian

SJohn Gibson‘s appeal to Americans to “make more babies” has caused quite a stir. On May 11, he said “Do your duty. Make more babies… half of the kids in this country under five years old are minorities. By far the greatest number are Hispanic. You know what that means? Twenty-five years and the majority of the population is Hispanic…”

The reactions led Gibson to follow-up on Tuesday’s Big Story. But that was after The Colbert Report showed this pic of Gibson. Colbert said the FNC host is “ready and willing” to help solve the problem. Also:

> A Time Magazine writer says “Gibson is, of course, wildly wrong and not just because he rounds 45% up to “half” or conflates all racial and ethnic minorities with Hispanics…”

> Media Matters: “The U.S. Census Bureau last released a population projection in March 2004, which found that, by the year 2030, Hispanics will account for roughly 20 percent of the total population in the United States…”
