Dan Rather Recalls His Time In The ‘Dirty South Hip Hop Scene’

On Thursday evening, the latest faux news show debuted on TV: “Newsreaders,” on Adult Swim. The show mocks the “60 Minutes” format, from the interview style to the curmudgeonly commentary at the end of the program.

“I’m basically trying to be the Mike Wallace of Adult Swim,” the creator told the New York Times.

The debut episode featured a story about “sex vans,” and fittingly also featured a cameo from former “60 Minutes” correspondent and anchor Dan Rather, who recalled his (fictional) time “in the Dirty South Hip Hop Scene.”

“It turns out Bonecrusher, Bun B and I share an agent,” Rather said. “The rest, as I say in my song, ‘Fact Man to the 404,’ is history.”
