Covering the Fires: Cable Plans

By Chris Ariens

The cable networks continue almost non-stop coverage of the southern California fires. CNN has beefed up its anchor presence sending Anderson Cooper, Rick Sanchez and American Morning anchors John Roberts and Kiran Chetry. Also, San Diego native Kyra Phillips will soon be on her way.

MSNBC’s Chris Jansing, who’s been on Burbank bureau duty for about a month, was sent out on the fires early Sunday morning. Back in New York, with videotape rolling in one of their giant new monitors, it almost looked as if the fire was burning inside the one-day old MSNBC studio.

On FNC Adam Housley, graduate of nearby Pepperdine University, has been covering the story since Sunday morning. Housley and his team had to be evacuated and pulled off the fire line yesterday when the wind shifted. He’s blogging, too. Geraldo Rivera is also enroute to cover the fires for FNC.
