Couric Watch: “I’m Figuring Out What I Want To Do & When I Want To Do It”

Is Katie Couric leaving NBC? She won’t say.

The Today Show star is quoted in the Dec. 12 edition of TV Guide: “All I will say is I’m figuring out what I want to do and when I want to do it. I’m very fortunate to have some opportunities. It’s something I’m thinking long and hard about,” she says, adding, “I haven’t made a decision yet.”

In an interview with Stephen Battaglio, Couric added: “I have no doubt that if I did make a decision not to stay, the show would continue to do really well.”

So how would Matt Lauer feel if/when she leaves? “If Katie were to go off and do something challenging that she couldn’t pass up, I’d be happy. And then I would be disappointed and at a loss for what to do.” He calls it a huge loss, hypothetically of course…
