In her announcement this morning, Katie Couric emphasized the long history of Today.
“The Today show has always been bigger than any one person,” she said to Matt, Al, and Ann.
A few minutes earlier, Matt Lauer noted that Couric “is now the longest-serving anchor in Today history.”
“It’s been such an honor and a privilege to occupy this seat for as long as I have,” Couric said. “This is an institution that will continue to grow and thrive because of all the extraordinarily dedicated people who work here.”
