ABC News president David Westin toasted Jake Tapper last night as the ABC News White House correspondent was honored with the Merriman Smith Award for presidential news coverage at the annual White House Correspondents’ Association dinner.
As it was held in the room next to CBS’s cocktail reception, many of the celeb guests including Zach Galifianakis and Chelsea Handler jumped between parties.
Christiane Amanpour, who signed off CNN Friday night, was a guest of her new network ABC. George Stephanopoulos tells TVNewser the picture we snapped (above) is the first taken of the former and future hosts of the show.
This was GMA co-anchor Robin Roberts’s first White House Correspondents dinner. We spotted her chatting with Sen. Scott Brown and his wife, local TV anchor Gail Huff. Other ABC Newsers in attendance: Martin Bashir, Cynthia McFadden, John Donvan, Chris Bury, and Jonathan Karl.
