CNN’s Primetime Is A Crime

It’s hard not to criticize this: Next week is “Crime Week” for CNN primetime. “CNN investigates all aspects of crime from serial murders to the effectiveness of DNA evidence on cold cases to the Robert Blake murder trial,” today’s press release. {Sigh.}

The week begins with a “Dr. Sanjay Gupta Primetime Special” titled “Anatomy of a Murder: Crime Scene Investigation” on Sunday. (It reairs at 10pm Monday.) Larry King has an exclusive interview with Robert Blake on Monday. And Anderson Cooper 360 “will examine crime all week from 7-9pm.” Topics will include: “the Atlanta courthouse shootings, insurance fraud, abuses of the emergency 911 system, sex trafficking, Megan’s law and the BTK killer.”

> Update: 4:18pm: “A week of crime on CNN? The real crime is that CNN doesn’t do news anymore at night. What’s wrong Anderson Cooper or Aaron Brown doing a national newscast instead of these themed shows?,” an e-mailer asks.
