The New York Post reports CNN New Day anchor Chris Cuomo jumped into waters off Long Island Sunday afternoon to save a man struggling in a rip current.
“Once he got to him, the man still couldn’t fight the current, so Chris then somehow managed to drag him back to shore, where they could stand in the water,” Frank Cilione told the Post. “If he hadn’t done this, the man would surely have drowned.”
Colin said police who responded to the scene did not recognize Cuomo, but said he “was a hero.”

Cuomo, however, brushed off the “hero” label this morning, saying on Twitter that it was “not a big deal” and that he was “happy to help.”
