CNN Inauguration Technology: Security Cams, Synths

By SteveK

As we interviewed CNN’s Ali Velshi today in the Election Center studio (now used by Campbell Brown’s “No Bias, No Bull”), CNN’s Washington bureau chief David Bohrman came in. Bohrman is producing the Inauguration coverage from New York to broadcast from CNN’s best HD control room.

Bohrman was in the studio testing out some new features being used for Inauguration coverage, including a live feed of 16 security cameras around Washington, D.C. The cameras can be viewed at the same time, or individual feeds can be pulled up and viewed on the large monitors.

Bohrman also told us about “The Moment,” CNN’s joint project with Microsoft to produce the first “synth” of a major historical moment at NoonET on Inauguration Day. iReporters from around D.C. will contribute to the CNN.com page. WebNewser has all the details (like, what a “synth” is).

The Velshi video interview will be posted next week.
