The cable news channels have been covering a situation at the Sugarloaf Mountain ski resort in Maine where a ski lift has derailed sending five chairs to the ground.

CNN, which began covering the story first around 11:10amET, has been getting on-the-scene information from Robb Atkinson, who is Senior Director of Sales & Affiliate Relations for CNN Newsource. He along with his wife and family are there on vacation and have been providing a first-hand account for CNN as they witnessed the rescue unfold. Early reports indicated as many as 100 people had been trapped. A Sugarloaf spokesperson tells MSNBC eight people were injured when the chairs fell to the ground. Maine got the last blast of the blizzard with the mountain receiving about 20 inches of snow yesterday.
