CNN Apologizes for Playing ‘Only the Good Die Young’ After Segment on Wisconsin Shooting

CNN has issued an apology for playing a clip of “Only the Good Die Young” after a segment on the Wisconsin temple shooting.

A portion of the Billy Joel song, which was meant as an intro to a discussion on the election, aired on yesterday’s “Starting Point” after a segment on the shootings. Talking Points Memo received a statement from CNN on the incident:

“We aired a song from our guest’s playlist on the morning show, which aired following a three-minute commercial break and before a segment on presidential politics, unrelated to the Wisconsin shooting. Given the news of the day, this was regrettable and we apologize to our viewers.”

CNN issued a similar apology last week after playing “Stupid Girls” ahead of a segment about Fox News contributor Sarah Palin.
