Following the successful series “The Sixties,” CNN has announced plans to produce an eight-part documentary series that will explore the 1970s. “The Seventies” will air next summer and will be executive produced by multiple award-winning producers Tom Hanks, Gary Goetzman and Mark Herzog.

The special will pick-up where the 1960’s left off, examining the decade through politics, culture and historic events. The first episode titled, “Television of the ’70s” focuses on how popular programs, such as “M.A.S.H.” and “All in the Family,” reflected society of the era. Other episodes will tackle a wide range of subjects, including the impact of the Vietnam War, Watergate, the Iran Hostage Crisis and the massacre at the Munich Olympics.
