CNBC is totally revamping the personnel structure for its Business Day programming. The process started last week, with Lacy O’Toole being named managing editor of CNBC business news and Jason Gewirtz named to the newly-created role of vice president of news.
That process continues today, as a whopping 11 different CNBC producers are either heading to different CNBC shows or receiving promotions on the shows for which they’re currently working.
CNBC business news programming vp Craig Bengtson announced the staffing moves earlier today.
Prashant Patel takes over for Gewirtz as the executive producer of Halftime Report. Patel has called CNBC home for 13 years, and worked on a number of different CNBC dayside programs over the years.
Kevin Flynn has been promoted to the role of Fast Money executive producer. Flynn, a seven-year CNBC vet, most recently worked on Worldwide Exchange. According to CNBC, his senior producer role is being posted.
Katie Kramer and Dave Evans are now Squawk Box senior producers. Kramer has been heavily involved in guest bookings for the morning show, and planning of Squawk’s high-profile remote interviews, including for Davos. Evans has kept the show running smoothly from the control room. Squawk will soon be launching a new set and graphics package into the show’s presentation, and Evans and Kramer will play major roles in that launch, according to the network.
Lauren Alperstein and Ben Thompson are now Squawk on the Street senior producers. Alperstein has been in charge of CNBC’s highly-rated 10 a.m. hour, and worked as anchor producer. Thompson, a 12-year CNBC veteran, has built key relationships with the White House, and helped with long-term planning of election and inauguration coverage for CNBC.
Kristin Cwalinski will leave her role as a senior producer on Fast Money for a new gig at Power Lunch. Cwalinski will report directly Power Lunch ep Sandy Cannold. Her position at Fast Money will be posted.
Squawk on the Street supervising producer Marc Gilbert is moving to Closing Bell, in a similar role, where he’ll help lead and direct a team that is currently re-vamping two of the most important hours of the trading day, according to the network. Gilbert will report to Closing Bell ep Lisa Villalobos.
Michael Newberg has been promoted to senior producer of Closing Bell. Newberg has risen quickly through the ranks during his seven years at CNBC, from segment to field to coordinating and now senior producer.
Lastly, there are two Mad Money with Jim Cramer producers who are getting promotions: Heather Gaines and Linda Dimyan. Interestingly, Gaines, now a senior producer, started out as an intern on the program, which celebrates its 15th anniversary in 2020. Dimyan, now senior line producer, runs the show’s control room.
