Chinese Censors Interrupted CNN International & BBC Feeds During Protest

The Chinese government censored CNN International and BBC World when a protester was heard during the Bush/Hu photo op today, a stringer in China tells The Corner:

“The coverage turned to black (both video and audio) – the whole screen turned black – during Jintao’s speech. I was watching all three of them (when BBC went to black I switched to CNN and it was in black and then, turn to Phoenix TV and it was also in black). The signal from these TV networks are broadcast w/a delay – this has been the system for years.”

NewsBusters adds: “From time to time the Chinese authorities do disrupt CNN’s signal into mainland China,” CNNi spokesman Nigel Pritchard says. He “declined to say whether CNN protests such acts of censorship to government officials.”
