Cheney Talks To Fox: Morning Papers

By Brian

> Washington Post: “Asked about suggestions that Cheney chose Fox to assure himself of a friendly forum, Hume said: ‘If they want to say that, that’s fine. Let people look at the transcript of the interview.'”

> Alessandra Stanley is kind to FNC in her column: “Hume is known for a dry, caustic style; he didn’t soften his demeanor to accommodate the vice president.” She even takes a shot at CNN, saying that “most V.I.P.’s in trouble choose the safe waters of Larry King on CNN…”

> USA Today: CNN political analyst Paul Begala on FNC: “They’re the house organ for the Republican Party. It’s like Khrushchev giving an interview to Pravda.”

> USA Today again: David Gregory says: “It was a good interview, a good ‘get.’ I wished I had gotten it.”

> Hollywood Reporter: “Hume, a respected and longtime Washington correspondent, had diligently pursued the interview Monday and Tuesday without success. It wasn’t until Wednesday morning when Hume found out that he’d get his interview early in the afternoon.”
