‘CBS Evening News’ Names Brinda Adhikari Senior Producer

By Brian Flood

“CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley” has hired Brinda Adhikari as senior producer. Adhikari was previously a coordinating producer on ABC’s “World News Tonight.” TVNewser has obtained a memo that CBS News executive editor and CBS Evening News executive producer Steve Capus sent to his staff:

Hi everyone,

I want to share some exciting news about the management team of the CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley.

Brinda Adhikari is joining us as a Senior Producer. Her first day in the fishbowl with her Evening News colleagues is Monday, April 20.

Brinda is an innovative storyteller, with multi-platform production and management experience, making her an enormous asset as we continue to evolve the broadcast. She comes to us after a dozen years at ABC News, where she earned the respect of her colleagues and peers. Most recently, Brinda was a coordinating producer on “World News Tonight.” She helped manage the day-to-day editorial content, launched several long-form series and was in charge of the “Person of the Week” franchise.

Before ABC, Brinda worked for UNICEF as a communications officer, based in Johannesburg, South Africa. She is proficient in Bengali and also speaks French, Italian and Hindi. Brinda was born in Kolkata, India, moved to the United States when she was eight and grew up outside Washington, D.C. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband and their two-year-old daughter.

I am delighted to have Brinda on board. Please join me in welcoming her to the CBS Evening News.
