We have more promotions news to report on this post-Thanksgiving Monday, and this time it’s at CBS News.
Julie Morse is being promoted to senior producer of the CBS Evening News with Norah O’Donnell.
In this role, Morse will lead the development and coordination of pieces and bookings for Norah O’Donnell, including for special series such as the award-winning Norah O’Donnell Reports that Morse has helped produce. In addition, Morse will continue to lead and manage the headline team, work closely with the writing team in the control room, and develop CBS Evening News special series like Honoring Our Heroes and Profiles in Service with executive story editor Alturo Rhymes.
Morse joined CBS Evening News in 2019, and before joining CBS News in 2017, she spent four years at NBC Nightly News and MSNBC.
Additionally, New York-based Evening News producer Alicia Hastey is relocating to Washington, D.C., where she will develop and produce stories for the Evening News and for the streaming Norah O’Donnell Reports. According to CBS Evening News ep Adam Verdugo, Hastey will also produce news-of-day stories as needed and work on special projects with the network’s Washington correspondents. Hastey joined CBS from NBC in 2021.
Third, Sarah Svoboda is joining CBS Evening News from Vice’s Los Angeles bureau as a producer. At Vice, she produced short, medium and long-form pieces, in addition to covering breaking news on the West Coast. Prior to that, Svoboda spent nearly a decade in Washington, D.C., where she was a producer at the BBC and PBS NewsHour. She will remain in LA for CBS.
