Cablers Attack Each Other…Again

By SteveK

Yesterday’s slow news day provided the opportunity for cablers to blast each other in two separate instances. First, on Fox News’ Your World with Neil Cavuto, the anchor spent his “Common Sense” closing segment taking NBC to task for its “classless” treatment of Jay Leno and Tucker Carlson.

The odd pairing of targets related to the idea that Leno is being pushed off the Tonight Show and Carlson was relegated to a “diminutive editorial role.”

“I am not in the camp that says NBC has an agenda. I just wonder if it has a soul, because I cannot imagine for the life of me, former GE boss Jack Welch condoning such corporate clownsmanship,” Cavuto says.

On MSNBC, Dan Abrams spent his entire Beat the Press segment taking aim at CNN. First, the “intellectual thievery” of CNN’s This Week in Politics. Second, the way CNN, treats their viewers “like idiots” as evidenced by cartoons and a fake poker game used to get the point across during their Mortgage Meltdown special.

Click continued to see both segments…

> More from an emailer: I love Dan Abrams but his outrage over someone stealing “his” Beat the Press name is not honest. I have notified his show that it was actually a PBS show from Boston called “Greater Boston” hosted by Andy Rooney‘s daughter Emily that started a segment named “Beat the Press ” years ago.

> More, more from another emailer: Building on the WGBH Beat the Press — Emily Rooney actually owns the COPYRIGHT on the name.
