Cable Network Ranker: Week of July 2

The July 4 holiday led to a slow week for cable news channels last week, as reflected in the cable network ranker.

Fox News is still the top cable news channel, placing 7th among ad-supported cable networks in both primetime and total day. FNC averaged 1.47M viewers in prime and 996,000 in total day. MSNBC is 29th in primetime with 622,000 viewers and 32nd in total day with 372,000 viewers. CNN was 37th in primetime with 396,000 viewers, and 34th in total day with 320,000.

HLN was 42nd in primetime and total day with 283,000 viewers and 239,000 viewers, respectively. Current TV was 93rd in primetime and 94th in total day, averaging 34,000 and 27,000 viewers, respectively.

Among the business networks: CNBC led the way as usual, placing 61st in primetime and total day, averaging 165,000 and 115,000 viewers, respectively. Fox Business Network was 87th in primetime and total day, averaging 64,000 and 49,000 viewers, respectively. Bloomberg TV isn’t rated by Nielsen, and hasn’t been since launching in 1994.
