Cable Network Ranker: Week of December 12

Fox News was the No. 1 basic cable network in total day viewers, and the second-most-watched basic cable network in prime time for the week of December 12. ESPN, with its potpourri of NFL, NBA and college football programming, took the No. 1 spot in prime. Hallmark Channel and Freeform (formerly ABC Family) took the No. 3 and No. 4 spots thanks to their always popular of holiday-themed movie blocks. USA comes in at No. 5.

Nickelodeon was the second-most-watched cable network of the week in total day, followed by Hallmark Channel, ESPN and Adult Swim.

The O’Reilly Factor claimed three of the top 10 telecasts in basic cable last week while the network notched 17 of the top 30 programs, including various presentations of The Five, Special Report with Bret Baier, Tucker Carlson Tonight, The Kelly File and Hannity.


FNC defeated CNN and MSNBC combined in all dayparts in both total viewers and A25-54.

CNN had a rough week ratings-wise. In fact, this was the least-watched week of the year for CNN in prime time (652,000 viewers). The network ranked No. 26 in prime time, and No. 18 in total day viewers.

MSNBC ranked No. 14 in total prime time viewers, and No. 19 in total day viewers.

Among the younger 18-49 demo, FNC beat CNN and MSNBC both in prime time and total day.
