Cable Network Ranker: Week of April 17

Fox News was the No. 1 basic cable network for the week of April 17 in average total total day audience. The No.1 ranking in total day marks four consecutive months for Fox News as the most-watched basic cable channel in the 6 a.m. – 6 a.m. daypart.

Fox News finished No. 2 in average prime time audience behind TNT, which is getting a nice boost from the NBA playoffs.

Here’s a look at basic cable’s top 5 networks for the week:

Basic Cable Top 5 – Prime time (total viewers)

  1. TNT (2,949,000)
  2. Fox News (2,290,000)
  3. MSNBC (1,445,000)
  4. HGTV (1,415,000)
  5. TBS (1,283,000)

Basic Cable Top 5 – Total Day (total viewers)

  1. Fox News (1,443,000)
  2. TNT (1,116,000)
  3. NICK (1,072,000)
  4. HGTV (823,000)
  5. Adult Swim (781,000)

MSNBC ranked No. 3 in total prime time viewers across the basic cable landscape, and No. 6 in total day viewers this past week. MSNBC beat rival CNN in total viewers for the 13th consecutive week in prime time, and for the 9th consecutive week in total day.

CNN ranked No. 12 in total prime time viewers, and No. 8 in total day viewers this past week.

CNBC ranked No. 44 in total prime time viewers, and No. 58 in total day viewers.

HLN ranked No. 46 in total prime time viewers, and No. 39 in total day viewers.

Fox Business ranked No. 80 in total prime time viewers, and No. 65 in total day viewers.

While Fox Biz finished behind CNBC in prime time and in total day, the network beat its business news rival in total Business Day viewers.

FBN: 179,000 total viewers and 23,000 A25-54

CNBC: 162,000 total viewers and 26,000 A25-54
