Springsteen’s Guitar and Brian Williams’ Tie Bring $250,000 to Bob Woodruff Foundation

At the Bob Woodruff Foundation’s “Stand Up for Heroes” benefit last night at the Theater at Madison Square Garden, Bruce Springsteen fanatic Brian Williams joined Springsteen on stage to help with the event’s finale: a live auction of an autographed Springsteen guitar, a one-hour guitar lesson provided by The Boss, an invitation to sit in on a Springsteen recording session, and lasagna cooked by Springsteen’s mother. And Williams contributed too: he threw in the tie he was wearing.

The winning bid was a quarter million dollars. Also appearing at the benefit show: Jon Stewart, Jerry Seinfeld, Bill Cosby, Jim Gaffigan and Roger Waters.

The Bob Woodruff Foundation was founded by the ABC Newsman and his wife, Lee, following Bob’s injuries while covering the war in Iraq in 2006. The foundation provides resources and support to injured service members, veterans and their families.
