Brits Talk Burnett, Boris and Brown

The Evening Standard of London writes about CNBC’s Erin Burnett, who recently packed a full schedule into her recent, “36-hour visit to London” (sorry, no link — blame England).

The paper seems a bit confused by the nickname situation here in the States, however. “Her winning looks have led to her being dubbed Maria 2 by America’s tabloid press — after CNBC’s original Money Honey, Maria Bartiromo,” writes the Standard. Maria 2? Try, “Street Sweetie.”

The short feature shows the English newspaper’s notorious way with words. The caption reads, “Charmer charmed: CNBC’s Burnett was bowled over by the Mayor’s figure.”

The “figure” referred to the fact that Boris Johnson in an interview that London employs 10,000 more people in the financial services than New York. “Oh, well, my goodness!” the paper reports Burnett saying.
