Breaking the news to a national TV audience, may have been the key for Fox to win the night in total viewers and 25-54 demo. Fox was first to report the story, followed quickly by CNN and MSNBC.
FNC averaged 1,021,000 in the demo, peaking with 3,743,000 viewers in the 8pm ET hour. (Shepard Smith anchored, pre-empting The O’Reilly Factor).
In comparison, CNN averaged 2,446,000 total viewers 8p-11p, with 1,009,000 25-54. MSNBC took in 965,000 viewers 8p-11p, with 465,000 in the demo.
