Mothballed for the last 15 months, NBC News has restarted the Twitter account @breakingnews.
MSNBC Digital bought the popular BreakingNews.com website and its Twitter feed, which came with the valuable @BreakingNews handle, in January 2010. The site was shut down in December, 2016 with the final tweet sent a few weeks later. But by then, the twitter feed had amassed a not insignificant 9.5 million followers
