Fox News marked its 20th consecutive week as basic cable TV’s most-watched network in the total day daypart.

Per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data, the network averaged roughly 1.3 million viewers and 217,000 A25-54 demo viewers.

Fox News also finished No. 1 in prime time, edging TNT by +55,000 viewers in the daypart. TNT’s coverage of the NBA Western Conference Playoffs came to a close in the early part of the week, undoubtedly helpful for Fox News’ chances of reclaiming the prime time throne.

The network was +4% in total prime time audience, and -2% in total day audience versus the comparable week in 2018, and its quartet of Hannity, Tucker Carlson Tonight, The Ingraham Angle and The Five claimed 15 of the top 30 cable telecasts overall in total viewers.

MSNBC was the third-most-watched basic cable network this past week in prime time, and also posted +12% growth in the daypart from last year. The network also posted slight growth in total day viewing (+1%).

CNN, which finished No. 12 across cable in total prime time viewers, posted +13% year-over-year growth in the daypart. That’s more growth than its cable news competition. On the downside, CNN was -7% in total viewers across total day, despite earning a top 10 ranking in that daypart (No. 9).
