Baier Anchors “Democracy’s Big Day”

FNC’s new lead political coverage anchor Bret Baier is profiled by Multichannel News’ Mike Reynolds.

Besides taking over “Special Report” at 6pmET, Baier anchored President George W. Bush’s farewell address last night and will anchor the Inauguration coverage on Tuesday. “It’s democracy’s big day, a transfer of power that’s different than any other,” says Baier. “And this is a special transfer given the nation’s history of racial segregation. Having an African-American holding that bible, it’s going to be incredibly emotional for a lot of people.”

Baier also appeared this week on C-SPAN’s Washington Journal in a town hall with 800 students.

“When you go back years from now and you tell your kids or grandkids, ‘I was there,’ that’s going to be a cool thing,” Baier told the students.
