“Around The World” With Shepard Smith

By Alissa Krinsky

In an interview of FNC’s Shepard Smith, Marketwatch’s Jon Friedman writes that Smith “tries not to get caught up in the hubbub of his persona as a cable-news star. It’s the Fox News Channel approach, explained Smith, one of its pioneers. ‘We don’t take ourselves seriously — we take the news seriously,’ stressed Smith.”

The native Mississippian “had to beat the odds to make it in a world of New Yorkers,” Friedman continues. “Likewise, Fox had to persevere to upend the TV news establishment. Smith draws strength from the critics’ sniping. ‘I kind of like it,’ he said wryly. ‘When people take knocks against us, I can laugh.'”
