Ann Curry Named Variety ‘Power Woman’

By Alex Weprin

Variety released its 2011 “Women’s Impact Report,” which looks at the state of women in Hollywood and the media business, and NBC “Today” co-anchor Ann Curry is among those that made the cut (subscription may be required). Curry tells Variety that her ascension will likely result in more national reporting (as opposed to her signature globetrotting) but that she will still have the flexibility to travel abroad as news warrants:

Curry will now be spending more time Stateside — “I’m going to step it up with more national reporting” — but she isn’t turning in her passport. “I can’t keep up the same pace of foreign reporting, but I’ve been assured by NBC I will continue to have those opportunities because there’s recognition that the work has meaning.”

Also making the list: HLN host and “Dancing With the Stars” contestant Nancy Grace.
