Though his Champion pick North Carolina lost in heartbreaking fashion, HLN meteorologist Bob Van Dillen was still crowned the champion of TVNewser’s 2016 Bracket Challenge.
Van Dillen correctly picked 43 of the 63 games. It could have been 44 if Villanova’s Kris Jenkins hadn’t clinched the Wildcat’s first NCAA title since 1985 with a 3-point shot as time expired.
I can’t take all the credit for my win, some of the kids that played on the teams I picked should get credit too. https://t.co/9Mr6ecpAnS

But, in the end, Van Dillen was never challenged, winning with a commanding 121 overall points, with yours truly finishing as the runner-up with 95 points. CNBC’s Brian Sullivan, Bloomberg’s Scarlet Fu, and NBC News’ Janelle Rodriguez round out the top five. The one thing that all of the contestants have in common: None of our champion picks ended up cutting down the nets in Houston.
Last year’s winner Gretchen Carlson finished at the bottom this year, and prior winner Dominic Chu finished 28th overall.
