Adams told the paper she was “surprised” to have the interview canceled after she objected to talking about the Sony hacking scandal. She had been booked on “Today” to promote her film “Big Eyes:”

“I expressed that I was uncomfortable. I said I would rather not add my voice to this conversation,” Adams said. “But it was clear they were drawing a hard line. That this would be part of the conversation.”

Informed the interview would not happen, Adams said Tuesday night I was confused and definitely frustrated. I still don’t understand.”

NBC told USA Today “the Today show doesn’t allow guests to put restrictions on interviews. In this case, after hours of discussion we felt uncomfortable with the demands being made and we determined the best course of action for all parties involved was to cancel the interview.”
