Al Jazeera America Adding Additional Live News

By Brian Flood

More changes are coming to Al Jazeera America, but this time nobody is getting laid off and programming isn’t getting cut. TVNewser has learned, beginning Monday, AJAM will present more hours of live news programming, from more locations.

A rotating cast of anchors and reporters will host the new weekday morning news program, starting at 6amET. The live morning news block brings viewers an additional two hours of content from AJAM’s headquarters in New York City. It will also be blended with live news broadcasts from studios in Doha and London, the network’s 82 bureau locations and field reporters around the world.

AJAM will also add an extra hour to its midday news coverage, featuring  enterprise stories and investigative pieces. Updated evening programming is also coming soon. We hear that AJAM will use existing staff for the new programming and that additional positions won’t be created at the moment.
