Ailes Is “Perhaps The Most Talented Executive” In TV Today, Chernin Says

“Roger is the perfect executive to oversee News Corp.’s single most profitable business,” Peter Chernin tells Variety following the announcement of Ailes’ new post. “He has the unqualified respect, trust and admiration of Rupert and myself and, with his unmatched record of building successful TV channels, is perhaps the most talented executive in the industry today.” Other Ailes items:

> The Hollywood Reporter: “Ailes said the announcement is another way News Corp. is trying to improve synergies among its units. That includes expanding the logistical capabilities, allowing local producers quicker access to news feeds, among other things.”

> Variety: “Collaboration between FNC and Fox-owned stations could lead to expanded newscasts that reflect the tone and attitude of Fox News, giving affiliates a distinctive product in their local markets.”

> New York Times: “With his additional responsibilities, the profile of Mr. Ailes, 65, is expected to rise within the News Corporation, with his influence rivaled, perhaps, only by that of Mr. Chernin…Perhaps the biggest challenge Mr. Ailes will face is finding the time to do everything he is responsible for doing.”
