Aftermath: All The Networks Have An “Enormous Presence” Along Gulf Coast

By Brian

NBC and CNN’s announcements about New Orleans bureaus “somewhat exasperated their rivals, who say they also have large numbers of people working in New Orleans,” David Bauder writes. “ABC News, for example, said it is moving into a more permanent work space in New Orleans. CBS News said it had 200 people in the region at the height of the story.”

> “We have an enormous presence in Louisiana and will for a very long time to come,” ABC News spokeswoman Cathie Levine said.

> FNC expects to have an increased presence in the Gulf for the forseeable future, and calling it a bureau is “just a formality,” spokeswoman Irena Briganti said.

> Update: 12:19pm: An industry insider writes in: “EVERYONE has the same set-up down there — office space, technical equipment, engineering, reporters, editorial staff, satellite lines, etc — calling it a bureau is a gimmick.” Have any of the “bureau chiefs” bought homes in New Orleans?…
