Aftermath: A Collective “Cronkite Moment?”

By Brian

“This may be a Cronkite Moment,” Phil Rosenthal opines. He’s referring to Walter Cronkite‘s infamous statement about the Vietnam War, of course, and comparing it to the reports from journalists along the Gulf Coast.

“Collectively the media could have the same power as Cronkite did when he said the war was not winnable,” CBS correspondent John Roberts says. “But in terms of there being one person who can do that, I don’t think so.”

More: “I wouldn’t have wanted to be a person sitting in the White House watching all of that coming in. And while the disaster wasn’t man-made … the humanitarian disaster was because they were so slow in getting aid to people.”
