Dan Abrams means what he says. Last week, the MSNBC general manager and host of the network’s 9pET hour took on Christiane Amanpour and her highly-rated, 6-hour documentary, God’s Warriors. This week he tells The NYObserver‘s Felix Gillette: “I felt that the journalism behind it was shoddy.”
Abrams also thought the 3-part series which examined Jewish, Islamic and Christian fundamentalism was more opinion than fact. “I think that if you’re going to do advocacy — I do opinion all the time on my show — admit it. Just say, ‘I’m doing an opinion piece.’ I was calling them out, effectively asking them to fess up.”
Since last year, MSNBC has, on various programs, featured a segment called “Beat the Press.” And Abrams is an equal opportunity basher: “If you look back at my Beat the Press segments, a lot of it has been about Fox. Some has been about CNN. I think I’ve spread the love,” Abrams says.
