About TVNewser

About TVNewser: mediabistro.com’s TVNewser is a constantly updated weblog covering the television news industry. We cover the cable news networks and broadcast news divisions. TVNewser launched as a part of the mediabistro.com blog network on July 26, 2004; prior to that, it was the independently operated CableNewser. CableNewser was inspired by the television coverage of the 2003 war in Iraq, and it launched formally on January 1, 2004.

The site’s founding editor, Brian Stelter, established the site when he was a 18-year-old college freshman at Towson University near Baltimore, Maryland.

TVNewser has been named one of the most influential blogs in television by the Wall Street Journal and The New York Times.

Upon graduating from Towson, Stelter took a job with The New York Times in July, 2007. In 2013 he joined CNN as senior media correspondent and host of “Reliable Sources.” Chris Ariens was named managing editor of TVNewser and Mediabistro.com in 2007.
