ABC’s Ross, Sauer, Esposito Receive Polk Award For Report On CIA Prisons

The 2005 George Polk Award for Television Reporting has been awarded to ABC News’ Chief Investigative correspondent Brian Ross and producers Maddy Sauer and Richard Esposito for the team’s reporting on secret detention facilities.

“In naming the countries where the facilities were located as well as exposing the White House-approved ‘enhanced interrogation techniques’ used by the CIA, including a method called ‘water boarding’ that subjects detainees to simulated drowning, the reports triggered an avalanche of critical reaction from governments and the public around the world,” Long Island U. said in the announcement.

“This is Mr. Ross’ fifth Polk award, which makes him the most honored television journalist in Polk history,” ABC noted in a press release…
